pinkytheent “Post-metal” can often be guilty of merely being loud and lingering. Cult of Luna totally dodge this pitfall. I think I most enjoyed the many textures throughout this album; percussive items beyond drums, emotive synth swells, untraditional instruments. Cult of Luna create a totally unique flavor to express their musical colors. I loved the powerful CHURN that swirled through much of this album, from the beginning horns and drums, carried forward by an excellent rhythm section. Favorite track: Cold Burn.

satanthony I hope to meet each day with the ferocity that this album begins; horns blaring my approach before the drums tear you apart. Favorite track: Cold Burn.

VUKARI I don't know how I never came across Cult of Luna before but I'm sure glad I have now. ISIS and the mighty NEUROSIS come to mind along with a few other staples of post-metal sounds. Incredible album. Favorite track: An Offering to the Wild.
